Barbara Lica's voice first drew widespread attention when she placed first runner-up at the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Competition in 2013.  That signature sound now has been the centerpiece of seven albums, mostly of her original music, and countless tours and jazz festivals from Tokyo to Montreal.   Bright and vibrant on one song, breathy and lilting the next, Lica varies the mood, from light and funny to heartfelt and heartbreaking.  In addition to her own piano playing, depth is provided by her touring partners on bass, guitar, keyboards and drums.  An appealing performer who enjoys opening up to her audiences, the Toronto-born artist hasn't slowed down in the studio, either.  her eclectic 2024 album of jazz, folk, pop, and rhythm and blues - Impostor Syndrome - earned two nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
